Formerly known as The Legal Education & Training Group (LETG)

About

Learning in Law is committed to identifying, developing and promoting best practice in learning & development (L&D). It represents the interests of its members in ensuring quality in education, and appropriateness of the regulation of education and training to the profession’s needs.

Learning in Law fulfils four key functions for its members:

  • to act as a think tank on behalf of member firms on all learning and professional development issues;
  • to provide networking opportunities;
  • to enable knowledge sharing; and
  • to support and train L&D professionals.

Think tank

Learning in Law acts as a think tank on important issues facing the profession. Members’ opinions are sought through consultations and by organising events on topics of current interest so that they can hear from practitioners and regulators and get answers to pressing questions. In the past, Learning in Law has lobbied the SRA on behalf of its members around significant topics.

Learning in Law commissions research into Legal L&D on behalf of its members. Research results are presented at events at which members explore with peers how research outcomes can be acted upon to further develop legal L&D. If you have a topic on which you think Learning in Law should commission research, please get in touch.

Networking and Knowledge Sharing

Learning in Law provides regular opportunities for those involved in learning and development to network, to share experience and ideas, and to meet relevant training providers.

These opportunities include the annual conference, the annual awards event and through attending our L&D Essentials and Hot Topics events. All of which provide access to fellow members and training providers to help develop knowledge and build networks.

The Learning in Law website is a significant resource for our members. It contains a popular Q&A function for members to ask fellow members questions and track responses. The website also hosts session recordings from our L&D Essentials and Hot Topics masterclasses. (Note: small fee applies)

Supporting L&D Professionals

Learning in Law is committed to helping our members develop as L&D professionals. To that end we run regular events to help our members brush up on essential L&D skills and learn about innovations at the cutting edge of L&D.
